Happy Juneteenth!
Do you value Black people. Do you celebrate us? Our freedom? Are you still supporting our businesses? Overlook my puffy face, raspy voice due to my MCAS flare, and see me, the Black disabled woman who's working on Juneteenth to make up for the loss of the attack on DEI and the performative allyship since the murder of George Floyd. To be seen, valued, and heard.
Today and always support and buy from Black businesses (buy my book, support my shop or Venmo). Value our contributions to America. Share this post or another Black creative or boss. Pay us for our value. Celebrate us. Juneteenth is a day we celebrate our freedom to work and get paid, own property, build a business, get healthcare, walk freely in the same country we were once told we had no rights to. Reflect on if you're using the same energy as the first Juneteenth holiday you observed. Pivot. Commit. Do the work.
