Keep Being Amazing Series
June Edition

It’s that time of the month where I remind you to Keep Being Amazing™! July is here and we have a lot going on. I am recovering from a partially dislocated shoulder that increased the pain in my neck and wrist so I am using a lot of assistive devices at the moment. But, you might be celebrating 250 years of the United States of America. Or maybe questioning what celebrating America means. Either way it is hot or cold this holiday weekend, thanks to climate change, and you are doing what you can to keep being amazing.
Okay ways to Keep Being Amazing™ in July!
Drink with me: Join me at Omega Winery for their Unfiltered Seminar Series featuring my book White Supremacy Is All Around. I mean, how much more unfiltered can it get than learning about ways to dismantle white supremacy to get back to humanity? Not to mention, I also happen to be one of our founder’s favorite authors! Come and join a casual conversation complete with humor and Q+A to learn ways to find pockets of joy while having difficult conversations in this difficult time. And of course I will remind guests how to keep being amazing! And my book will be available for purchase! Come grab a glass of women owned fantastic wine for a night that is part TED Talk, part salon, part serendipity from 6:30-8pm PST July 9th!
You Row Kelsey! If you have not been following Kelsey Pfendler now is the time. Pfendler is on track to be the first American woman to solo row from California to Hawaii. As of today she is ahead 1000 miles of the women’s record by 40 days and 525 miles ahead of the men’s record, beating it by a week! She is AMAZING and is expected to arrive in Oahu tonight, July 3 or morning of July 4th! If you are looking for inspiration, tune in here!
Disability Pride Month: Attend Disability Pride Month Live Panel: A Discussion for the Workplace and Beyond. The 75-minute live virtual panel hosted by Catarina Rivera aka Blindish Latina (give her a follow) features disability advocates, educators, and thought leaders (hint me) in an honest, facilitated conversation about Disability Pride, workplace identity, and what inclusion looks like in practice on July 16 10am-11:15am PST. If you are an employer, sign up for your organization making it simple to have programming for Disability Pride month or purchase a ticket as an individual ready to learn and unlearn to support my community!
Men’s World Cup: Have you gone to a watch party? Have you been surrounded by people in two opposing colors? Remember I asked during last month’s Keep Being Amazing™ series!? Men’s World Cup is here and even though my team/country, Haiti, is out but I still have Brazil (Haiti’s unofficial official team we support), any colonized country, France (yes I know they are colonizers but I am part French) and I guess USA to cheer for. I want to encourage you to go out and experience the amazing nature of cheering along with Men’s World Cup fans even if you do not know what is happening. It really is a uniting experience in this wild world.
SACRAMENTO Book Talk!!!! I am so proud to share that I am finally doing a book talk in my hometown of Sacramento. Sacramento is how my amazingness started. Come see me at A Seat At The Table Books on July 17th at 5pm PST! We will be celebrating the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) on July 26, 1990 and I will be talking about and answering questions about my book, or my Sacramento life! And if you are wondering what my open mic night hosting skills look like (I am too) I am the host of their open mic night that follows. Please spread the word as I have been working for YEARS to have a book talk in my hometown. RSVP here!
Support Venezuela: Amazing survival stories are coming out of the rubble from Venezuela people and pets days 5,7 and even 8 are happening. Remember to give and/or amplify on your social media if you can. And in case you missed it, take a look at this article to support you supporting Venezuela.
