Donald Is Here
...And I Was Called the N-word And Sent a Burning Cross Day One of His Presidency
Donald is president (when you use a first name studies show that person is less deserving of the associated benefits). He's back and bolder than before. He has made his mark prior to his new official capacity and will continue to do so just as we have witnessed in his first week as president. It honestly is too much to process but this post is dripping in receipts (links) for you to do a deep dive.
Look, we've seen the richest, the popular, the "they'd never align with him" come out in full force to support Donald. We've seen social media change. Democracy change. We've seen and will continue to see the oppression of women, BIPOC, LGBTQ+, non-white immigrants, and disabled folks. Harm will be synonymous with those who chose to not uphold values of white supremacy.
Speaking of white supremacy. Was is or wasn't it a Nazi salute? Hint, his Nazi jokes on what I will always call Twitter and recently speaking at the Alternative for Germany (AfD), a far right political party did not help. Elon Musk, who thinks he's also president, took to the stage to end with not one, but two salutes giving Nazi. If it was or wasn't his actions along with Donald's are terrifying. Just like being called nigg*r on this platform as a comment to my last post and being emailed a pixilated video of someone on a cross surrounded in fire that says release repeatably in the first 24 hours of Donald’s presidency.
Look there's no easy way to say a sexist, racist, rapist, convicted felon and white supremacist is America's president. Yet here we are. America now has a president where his harmful intersectionality has given permission for endless harm. Not to mention the worry as a result of his presidency.
I worry about our healthcare, our public health, the continued attack on DEI, illegal deportations of non-white immigrants, women's rights (Biden formerly recognized the Equal Rights Amendment Donald removed the page) police brutality, disabled folks, domestic terrorism, the LGBTQ+ folks especially the Trans community, gun violence and honestly my existence as a Black disabled woman in a white world. For anyone who says "we've been through this before" or "it won't be that bad" your privilege is showing. Like big time.
So...
Will it continue to be bad? Yes. Will we make it through? Yes. But it will be hard. It will be a challenge. We will want to give up. But we cannot. See our collective power will lead us to freedom from his influence. Donald is one person with power but we are a community of power. We have the power to unfollow. The power to shop where his supporters don't benefit. The power to not listen to artists that support him. The power to vote locally. The power to hold people accountable. The power to protest. The power to turn off the news. To move past allyship and become an accomplice. He is the president of our country but he does not control our actions. Our feelings. And how we treat one another.
Like Melania and her black hat I'm doing what I can to keep Donald away from my everyday feelings and purpose as I continue my activism. Moral of the story, be Melania's hat for the next four years or so.
This was a great read I even shared with a friend!
I’m so incredibly sorry you had to experience that awful bu11shit. That is exactly why I voted against the arsehole. I hope Mike RN is removed from this platform.
